Growing Home Community Garden

While walking along Page Street one morning on the way to the market I noticed these burlap bags hanging from a fence...

... so I crossed the street to get a better look.  It appeared to be some kind of community garden but it was all locked up because it was still early in the morning.  I wandered around a bit and peeked through the fence...

... and eventually found a sign:  Growing Home Community Garden.  And then I read what it was all about.

Project Homeless Connect was started in 2004 and provides valuable outreach services to San Francisco's homeless population, and has been so successful that it has been copied in many other cities.  This cool little garden in the heart of Hayes Valley is just one of their projects.
